How to make it:

First, warm your oven to 375ºF and grease a 9-inch pie pan.

Fit your crust into the pan and crimp the edges pretty. Set it aside for now.

In a big bowl, toss your apple slices with the lemon juice, sugar, cinnamon, cornstarch, and salt. Make sure every slice gets coated nice and even.

For the topping, stir together the flour, oats, sugar, and cinnamon in a medium bowl. Add your softened butter and use your fingers or a fork to work it in until it looks like crumbles.

Pile those apples into the crust, mounding them up in the middle. Sprinkle your crumble all over the top.

Set the pie on a baking sheet (saves your oven from a mess), and bake for 45 to 60 minutes. You'll know it's done when the crust is golden and you can see the apples bubbling. Peek at it now and then—if the top gets too brown, just lay a piece of tin foil over it.

When it's out of the oven, let it cool to room temperature. I know it's hard to wait, but the filling needs time to set up.

Serve with a nice warm tea or a dollop of whipped cream. Enjoy every bite!
